Mayo Clinic Florida Stole My Mother’s Final Days
Joan Ellen Eichman was an 82-year-old mother and grandmother, deeply loved by her family. To those who knew her, Joan was not just a number or a statistic but rather a vibrant woman with wisdom, warmth, and love to share. But in August of 2021, Joan’s life was cut short at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, under the guise of “COVID protocols.”
When Joan was admitted on August 23, 2021, her daughter Stephanie believed Mayo would do everything possible to help her mother heal. Instead, Joan was isolated, restrained, deprived of food and water, and denied the treatments Stephanie requested on her behalf. Treatments that were proven therapies such as ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, and even Vitamin C. It was clear from the start that her mother’s unvaccinated status would determine how she was treated.
Instead of compassionate, patient-centered care, Joan was given 10 days of remdesivir! A toxic drug that has devastated countless families. She was also given Ativan, painkillers, too high levels of oxygen, and antibiotics. She was left alone, restrained, and denied dignity until her final hours. Mayo did not place her on a ventilator but the combination of remdesivir and neglect proved fatal. Joan’s life ended 11 days after she was admitted. Her death certificate may say “COVID-19,” but her daughter knows it was the protocol that killed her. Proof of a positive Covid test was asked for and was denied by staff.
Stephanie has carried not only the grief of losing her mother but also the trauma of how she was treated in her final days. For most of Joan’s hospitalization, the staff kept Stephanie shut out, denying her the ability to advocate or comfort her mother when she needed it most. By the time she was finally allowed into the room, Joan was no longer alert; heavily sedated, chemically and physically restrained, and unable to speak or even recognize her daughter’s presence. The cruelty of isolation meant those crucial days of connection and advocacy were stolen. It was only after Stephanie was pressured into agreeing to palliative care that the hospital removed Joan’s BiPAP mask, and she passed away. A woman who had given her family a lifetime of love was forced to die in restraints, while her daughter stood powerless to stop it. This is an unforgivable betrayal of trust and humanity.
This is not just a story of one family’s loss. Joan’s death is part of a nationwide pattern egregious crimes against humanity committed in hospitals across America under the COVID “playbook.” Thousands of lives like Joan’s have been taken, not by the virus itself, but by policies that prioritized money and control over compassion and care.
Through Betrayal Project USA, Stephanie shares her mother’s story so the world will know what happened inside Mayo Clinic Florida and countless other hospitals. This movement exists to honor victims like Joan, support survivors like Stephanie, and pursue justice and accountability for these crimes.
If you or a loved one has been harmed by hospital protocols, shots, or policies, please document your story at betrayalprojectusa.org. These voices matter. Together, we will expose the truth, demand justice, and ensure these atrocities are never repeated.
